چکیده

This paper describes the microstructure, tensile, and tensile–creep behavior of a series of Mg–Zn alloys ranging from 0 to 4.4 wt.% Zn. The microstructures consisted of equiaxed hexagonal-close-packed grains with fine precipitates preferentially located at grain boundaries. Some of the microstructures contained fine laths within the equiaxed grains. The finest grain sizes were observed for a Zn composition of 4 wt.%. Tensile experiments were performed at room temperature and 150 ◦C while creep experiments were conducted at 150 ◦C for applied stresses between 30 a t s e ©

The tensile and creep behavior of Mg–Zn Alloys with and without Y and Zr as ternary elements

Tensile–creep experiments were conducted in the temperature range 100–200 C and stress range 20–83 MPa for a series of magnesium–zinc–yttrium (Mg-Zn-Y) and mangnesium-zinc–zirconium (Mg-ZnZr) alloys ranging from 0 to 5.4 wt% Zn, 0 to 3 wt% Y, and 0 to 0.6 wt.% Zr. The greatest tensile– creep resistance was exhibited by an Mg–4.1Zn–0.2Y alloy. The room-temperature yield strength increased with i...

Mechanical Characteristics, In Vitro Degradation, Cytotoxicity, and Antibacterial Evaluation of Zn-4.0Ag Alloy as a Biodegradable Material

Zn-based biodegradable metallic materials have been regarded as new potential biomaterials for use as biodegradable implants, mainly because of the ideal degradation rate compared with those of Mg-based alloys and Fe-based alloys. In this study, we developed and investigated a novel Zn-4 wt % Ag alloy as a potential biodegradable metal. A thermomechanical treatment was applied to refine the mic...

CREEP AGE FORMING OF Al-Zn-Mg ALLOYS WITH OPTIMIZATION OF MECHANICALl PROPERTIES

Creep age forming (CAF) is one of the novel methods in aerospace industry that has been used to manufacture components of panels with improved mechanical properties and reduced fabrication cost. CAF is a combined age-hardening and stress-relaxation that are responsible for strengthening and forming, respectively. This paper deals with the experimental investigations of mechanical and springback...

The Microstructure, Creep, and Tensile Behavior for Ti-5Al-45Nb (Atomic Percent) Fully-b Alloy

The microstructure, tensile, and creep behavior of a Ti-5Al-45Nb (at. pct) alloy was evaluated. The main objective of processing and characterizing this alloy was to obtain the constituent properties of a fully-b Ti-Al-Nb alloy to aid in modeling the tensile and creep properties of twophase orthorhombic + body-centered-cubic (O + bcc) alloys. A second objective was to compare the tensile and cr...

Mechanical Properties and Tensile Failure Analysis of Novel Bio-absorbable Mg-Zn-Cu and Mg-Zn-Se Alloys for Endovascular Applications.

In this paper, the mechanical properties and tensile failure mechanism of two novel bio-absorbable as-cast Mg-Zn-Se and Mg-Zn-Cu alloys for endovascular medical applications are characterized. Alloys were manufactured using an ARC melting process and tested as-cast with compositions of Mg-Zn-Se and Mg-Zn-Cu, being 98/1/1 wt.% respectively. Nanoindentation testing conducted at room temperature w...
